With 5 four-leggers, it was decided that they needed a room, a space that they could call their own. A dog friendly place to hangout, sleep, eat, bathe, etc…

I am ecstatic to report that the dog room is finally completed. The pups are happy
and we…well, we are thrilled!

Their sleeping quarters were built into the wall, the walls are done in white subway tile purchased from Lowes

John who loves working with metal and detests working with wood constructed the gate out of square metal tubing. The gate is sturdy and solid!

The cabinets, standard builder’s grade from Lowes are painted with Carolmal Color Paints

Base color coat was done in chocolate, chipping cream applied and finished with top color coat in peppercorn

The walls are covered with taller than normal (61″) wainscoting of galvanized barn siding. To make things simpler, we had the siding cut to walls specs. One big mistake was that we did not take into account the location of the light switches and electrical outlets. With a little finagling, we were able to adjust the siding so the the flat side areas were located over the switches and plugs

To finish off the siding, John constructed out of flat sheets of galvanized steel, the final touches to the wall

The upper shelf provides a wonderful spot for framed photos

bath time!

To help save preserve our backs, the shower base is raised 30″ off the floor. The walls are finished with ceramic subway tile sprinkled with additions of the cutest paw prints tiles. Using a Dremel tool, (the coolest gal tool ever!) I cut into each piece of ceramic for placement of the paw tiles. …Check out Tiles with Style

finishing touches!

The concrete floor was covered with 14 x 14 linoleum tile squares. Purchased from Lowes, the tiles were reasonably priced, and proved to be pretty simple for do-it-yourself installation

The vinyl stencil was cut using my Cricut machine and I’m admitting that this is the first time I have used it since purchasing in 2010. Fun installation and the stencils can be easily removed if needed

Extra additions include; crown molding, a small white ceiling fan, cages for the smaller pups, a Kuranda bed for Jack, (the oldest & biggest) a curtain made from material scraps, galvanized trash can for food storage, black storage cabinet for doggie supplies and framed photos

off to the next room….

Lisa Solonynk
Sometimes, mistakes are disastrous…other times; they are a blessing in disguise!

A testing fragrance “Juicy Lemon” was accidentally mixed with one of our best-selling cinnamon based mixing scents. The result was a fragrance that we have just introduced to our soy & beeswax candles, palm pillar and votive candles, diffusers and scented room sprays. It is aptly named “Cinnamon Lemon”. The top note (or the one you will detect first) is definitely lemon, but fear not you cinnamon lovers! The middle note (or the most dominant) will make its spicy presence known after the candle has been burning for a short period. Cinnamon Lemon is a wonderful fragrance that is appropriate for any time of the year.

Since the oil contains cinnamon, we cannot offer Cinnamon Lemon in any of our bath and body products

Kelsey Erickson

Kelsey will graduate from high school in less than one month. She has maintained a 4.0 average her entire senior year and a 3.8 GPA throughout her high school career. She will receive her diploma with honors. Her plans are to attend Miami University, Oxford, OH to acquirer a BS in accounting and minor in political science.

What can we say about this kid?
A lot.
She is amazing. More mature than most, honest (sometimes too honest), but anyone who has or is lucky enough to be her friend knows that she will always tell them the truth, no matter the circumstance. She comes across as shy. She’s not, just picky with her associations. She is not into drama, drummed up stupidity and frowns upon rudeness (especially when her friends are disrespectful to their parents/other adults). She sees life in black and white, views it as good versus evil, or right and wrong. She is conservative, charitable, kind, honorable, hardworking, ethical, frugal with money and best of all, she stands for what is right (which is not always popular). She knows that all of her actions have consequences, whether they affect her or another and that dealing with the results will be her responsibility. The prevention of disappointing those she respects is her motivation.

She has always had sustained, impressive plans of going to college, acquiring her degree, gaining a great job, building a cabin in the woods, driving a jeep (no top) and owning two dogs….a very BIG one named “Gandhi” and a very tiny one named “Tank”. No doubts from us; God willing, she will easily tackle and accomplish her dream!

We have never been a family to go on yearly vacations; John works all of the time and leaving my business for an extended period has never been an option and all of the four-leggers…well that’s another story

((So)) for Kelsey’s graduation gift, a vacation for her and her sister Dana has been planned. The trip will total 16 days and according to Google maps, the girls will cover 2035 miles.
Kelsey has never seen a sunrise over the ocean, so the strategy is to send her via 75 south.

Kels: as you prepare for life’s next chapter…enjoy, unwind, relax, don’t be so serious and most of all, have fun kiddo.

There are no words to convey our pride.

We adore you and love you always.

BLESS

Yesterday, I had a couple of moles removed. These little guys have been attached to me (literally) my entire life and then out of the blue, they decide to develop a mind of their own. My dermatologist does not like change; his words were “off with their heads!” This is my second go around with these little monsters. In August, 2010, I had a couple repossessed and they were diagnosed as a small basil cell carcinomas. Mercifully, they were not squamous or melanomas, but… I will remain a tad bit edgy until the labs return.

Twelve stitches later, I arrived home from my minor surgery a little grumpy, a little sore and unable to wear my granny glasses. One of the suspects was located in the exact spot where the nose piece of my cheaters rest. (If there are typos in thids article, please understand.)

Sitting patiently by the back door was a USPS box, this was odd, because all deliveries are usually made to the barn. The package was for me, yea!

It was from Denise, a great friend who lives in Boise. The contents inside were incredible and beautiful; a handcrafted cuff bracelet and necklace. Denise creates unique and wonderful pieces of jewelry. Check out her site at mycuffbracelets.com or her products listed on Etsy.

The gifts made an otherwise bummer of a day spectacular!

Thanks for thinking about me Denise!

header_citrus_basil

Last year, I pulled the fragrance Cool Citrus Basil to make room for some trendy fragrances.

BIG mistake I’ve since learned! Why mess with a good thing, right?

Citrus Basil Soy CandlesDescribed as; fresh notes of herbal basil, lemon & lime oils, bergamot and ylang ylang. It’s invigorating, refreshing and airy. Available in all products.
Look for it under its new name; Citrus Basil

Its fragrance is lovely burning in a soy candle or being released from a reed diffuser
